It was a cool spring day and we loaded up the car to go into the City of Chicago. My son had just turned 3 years old and we were going to look for his birthday gift. He had been telling us what he wanted for a couple months, a baby brother. Well, that wasn’t going to happen anytime soon. Luckily we easily convinced him to pick something else. He settled for a Lego set and ……. a dog. Two years prior our beloved Samoyed, Misty, crossed the rainbow bridge. She was 17 years old and the most gentle dog I have ever met. A big fluffy white dog who loved the snow and would sit outside for hours letting the snow collect on her nose. I had been searching the dog rescues all around Chicago for a couple of months. We were not going to get our new dog from a pet store. During my search I came across an organization called the Trio Animal Foundation (TAF).
The Trio Animal Foundation
“The Trio Animal Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that assists shelters, rescues and individuals by paying the medical bills of homeless pets. TAF also promotes adoption and responsible pet ownership, including spay and neuter.”TAF has seem some of the worst cases of animal abuse in the Chicago area. As a result of being connected on their Facebook page, so have I. They rescue these animals that would otherwise be left for dead and nurse them back to health and prepare them for adoption. Some of the dogs only need minor medical attention but need training and socialization with other animals. They provide this service through their sister company, Unleashed. Unleashed provides boarding services and doggy daycare to local clients.
Greetings
When we arrived at Unleashed I had the picture in my head. Another white fluffy dog and his name was Frolik (Frō lēk.) Unleashed named all of the new dogs up for adoption that month after the Chicago Blackhawk players. Being a family that did not watch hockey, we were pronouncing Frolik like frolic. I can still see the strange look on their face, a cross between confusion and a look of horror as they corrected our pronunciation. Lucky for us, they agreed to let us meet him anyway. We waited in the lobby peeking over the 1/2 door to get a first glance at him as he walked down the long hallway to meet us. We sat on the floor and waited for him to come us. It was love at first site as if he had been part of our family for years which brought another surprised look from Brigid. We would find out later that he wasn’t as friendly with everyone he met. However, with a little training and socialization, he is a permanent part of our family and I would not change a thing.
Pet Fashion You Won’t Find in a Pet Store
You can probably see why the Trio Animal Foundation is near and dear to my heart. Without them, we wouldn’t have found Frolik and many other dogs wouldn’t have found their furever homes either. This is why I chose them as my August Force for Good initiative. What better way to introduce the new Origami Owl Paws collection than with a fundraiser for an organization dear to my heart. This pet fashion you won’t find in a pet store collection includes two collar styles in small and medium sizes, 2 locket choices, an inscriptions tag, and various charms to tell your story. This collection is definitely pet fashion you won’t find in a pet store. Contact Me to create your fur-baby story today!
